The HungaryGP

The HungaryGP happened was a good race. I’m going to keep this post shot sorry, I’m very busy with school.

We saw a lot of close racing and great use of strategies. Many of the cars showed really great pace during the race. But the events started in qualifying. The two big stories of qualifying was mark webber being unable to make it past Q2, mark was only able to get to P11 for the race start. Then we had Bruno Senna he had a great pace all weekend. He out qualified and out raced his teammate. This weekend was good for Hamilton, controlled the field all race, beginning from pole. From start to finish he held his place for most of the race. The start of the race was interesting. Michael lined up in the wrong spot and his car turned off making him start from the pits. Then he had a puncture and got a driver through for speeding in the pits. Oh man his day was bad. He ended up retiring before the end. We saw both the lotus with great pace, which we expect from them in the warm conditions. Kimi had a great pass on Romain after exiting the pits. It was close and showed that both drivers are willing to fight each other to get ahead. In F1 your teammate is also your biggest rival. Looking further back into the pack we saw red bull struggle with their tires both drivers needing a 3 stop strategy. This cost them som place but they had great pace, Vettel even got the fastest lap. The problem of this tracks that it’s extremely hard to pass. This caused a lot of traffic in the field. Many racers lost time and this also helped some racers hold positions. Although Alonso showed us a great pass on Senna, but this was one of the few. Then we saw the other Williams driver show us how not to pass. Maldanado unfortunately lost his car a bit and punted a force India driver off the track. But injuries and major car damage, giving Maldanado a drive through penalty. Aside from this we saw the feild being very active and the final places were very shuffled compared to the last few races. It was a fun day.

The Mid Season Break

The hungering ring was the last race before the 2 week shut down of the season. This is a much needs break, not for the drivers but for all the support staff. The support staff has to travel with the team, many of them with out there families. This gives them a nice chance to catch up and relax. This season the teams really need to have them at their best performance, so much of the races come down to team performance.

The GermanGP

Well one of the things that I loved when I started watching Formula1 was formula1 in Crayola. This was a segment that they used to produce during the 2011 season, it was a wonderful review made with the funny automotive writing that makes so much fun to read. It was one of the things that really made me want to start writing. So I guess I will try my hand at creating my own race review. Starting late into the season let us start with the German grand prix. As always my writing will be from information gathered from various sources mainly BBC and sky sports f1 coverage and of course like any news source now a days reedit/r/Formula1

The GermanGP a great race, with many drivers bring of German nationality this is a important race. This year the race was held at the hockenheim circuit, the GermanGP alternates between Hockenheim and the Nurburgring each year. Hockenheim is a great track, technical and challenging. The track has been modified over the years to give the spectators a better show. The track used to dive off into the surrounding forests, but it was changed in the early 2000’s. The track was shortened and more corners were added. The few drivers who raced on the previous circuit rather liked the old layout more then the current. Mark webber said

“The old Hockenheim was a really cracking circuit; it was a flat-out blast through the forest and every time I brake for Turn 2 on the new track I wish we continued in a straight line, on the route of the old circuit”

which was noted by sky sports. It would be nice to see the old track being used once in a while, but it has been torn up. The weather for the weekend wasn’t great rain rain rain but finally the sky’s cleared for a great Saturday.

Updates and Upgrades

Like any other race season keeping the updates flowing is vital for success of the team. This season more then another who’s just how important updates are. This season the teams are working really had to get around the many changes in the regulations which took place after the blow exhaust diffusers dominated the 2011 season. Working the body to reduce drag, getting air to flow into the diffusers and getting the most out of the DRS zones are the goals that all the teams are trying to achieve. 20120723-105358.jpg
